1 WEEK TO GO!Public Health Oxfordshire County Council in collaboration with Community Pharmacy Thames Valley will be holding an online event on Thursday, 6th February 2025 from 7.30pm-8.30pm. The aim is to increase awareness of synthetic opioids, understand available support services and harm reduction interventions, learn how to access these services and manage risks, gain knowledge about take-home naloxone, relevant legislation, distribution services in Oxfordshire, and safety measures and how to join and effectively deliver the Oxfordshire Community Pharmacy Take-Home Naloxone pilot service. From February 2025, pharmacy owners will have a longer time to claim for services if IT issues outside their control prevented timely claims. This applies to the: Hypertension Case-Finding Service, Pharmacy Contraception Service, Pharmacy First, and Smoking Cessation Service. Normally, claims are due by the 5th day of the following month via the MYS portal, with a three-month grace period. Now, an additional 12 months is granted for claims, provided there's evidence the IT issue was beyond the pharmacy owner's control. Click here. |
From February 2025, the NHS Business Services Authority may withhold payments for Pharmacy First if claims don't meet the Patient Group Direction (PGD) or service specification. Investigations will determine if payments are lawful. Examples include: excessive medicine supply, patients outside the PGD age range, or inappropriate service pathways by distance selling pharmacies. Click here. |
Following a procurement process, the supplier of enteral feed products and consumables in hospitals and the community in Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire (West and East). This involves a change from Abbott to Nutricia and means that Nutricia now provides this services across all of BOB ICB and Frimley ICB. Over the next few months, people currently using Abbott enteral feeds will move over to Nutricia products with the support of local Dietitians, Nurses and Nutricia. This will be completed by the end of May 2025. If patients raise any questions with you about changes to their feeds then please ask them to speak to their usual Dietitian. |

The Pharmacy Pressures Survey will provide important evidence of the challenges facing the sector and the results will be used to raise awareness in national media and Parliament to demonstrate the impact to the ongoing crisis to the Government and the NHS. It consists of two surveys, with many questions kept similar to last year’s. The surveys take around 10-15 minutes to complete and close on 28th February 2025. See here for more information. |
Community Pharmacy Englad has published new guidance to help community pharmacy owners complete the Data Security and Protection Toolkit 2025. The Toolkit is used to make a pharmacy’s information governance (IG) declaration and must be completed by 30th June 2025. If you have questions about the NHS Pharmacy contraception service, CPPE is running an online NHS Pharmacy Contraception service (PCS) - panel discussion. Dates: 26th February 2025 and 12th March 2025 from 7pm to 8pm This one hour webinar is a panel discussion including representatives from NHSE, Community Pharmacy England (CPE) and pharmacists delivering the contraception service, to answer any questions that were raised during the face-to-face workshops that link to best practice service delivery.
