Since our exciting launch earlier this year, LPC Academy has hit the ground running, becoming a go-to resource for community pharmacy professionals seeking flexible, high-quality learning. We've built up a library of over 25 bite-sized podcasts—perfect for learning on the move and tailed for busy professionals. We have hosted two in-person conferences on Emergency Hormonal Contraception (EHC) sparked vibrant discussions and real-world insights. The forthcoming Women's Health Event on Sunday, 2nd November is a first of it's kind for CPTV and we hope that you will join us for an information packed day. We have delivered two dynamic webinars that tackled pressing topics like Hypertension Case-Finding Service and Pharmacy Contraception Service (PCS) and have two further webinars planned for the end of the year.

Emergency Contraception Workshop: Supporting Clinical Practice in Reading |
On the evening of 9th October, pharmacy professionals convened at the Holiday Inn Reading South for a focused Emergency Contraception Workshop hosted by Thames Valley Academy. The event attracted a solid turnout of pharmacy contractors keen to strengthen their clinical knowledge and consultation skills in delivering the Emergency Hormonal Contraception (EHC) service.
Led by Clare Moore, an experienced pharmacist known for her practical and accessible teaching approach, the session explored the latest national guidance on EHC provision in England. Attendees engaged with a mix of clinical updates, safeguarding considerations, and case-based discussions designed to support real-world application.
Workshop highlights included: - A clear overview of current EHC protocols and recommended practices
- Techniques for managing sensitive consultations with confidence
- Safeguarding principles to promote patient safety and service compliance
- Strategies to improve access to sexual health services within local communities.
Feedback from participants reflected appreciation for the workshop’s relevance and practical value. The session reinforced the importance of ongoing professional development and the critical role pharmacists play in delivering inclusive, patient-focused sexual health care. Thames Valley Academy’s evening workshops continue to offer a constructive space for pharmacy professionals to build confidence, stay informed, and contribute meaningfully to community health. Further events are planned to support continued growth in clinical practice across the region. |
LPC Launches First Women’s Health Training Event Sunday, 2nd November, High Wycombe 10.00-2.30pm |
We are pleased to announce the LPC’s very first Women’s Health Training Event, taking place on Sunday, 2nd November from 10:00am to 2:30pm at the Holiday Inn, High Wycombe. This informative session brings together expert voices from across the sector, including representatives from the Sexual Health Clinical Lead for Buckinghamshire, the National Migraine Centre, and CPPE. Attendees will benefit from concise, high-impact talks covering essential topics such as: Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) Menopause Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) Emergency Hormonal Contraception Whether you are looking to refresh your clinical knowledge or enhance your consultation skills, this event offers a valuable opportunity to strengthen your understanding of women’s health in a community pharmacy context.
