Ian has been an active member of the LPC committee for five years, with the last three years as Treasurer.
Ian has dedicated 20 years to community pharmacy, primarily working for independent pharmacies and as a locum pharmacist in and around Oxford. His vision for the future, coupled with his dedication to continuous professional development, will undoubtedly strengthen our organization and leadership team. We look forward to the positive impact he will bring to our community and are excited for what the future holds under Ian’s leadership. |
According to feedback, some pharmacies on the Flu Vaccination Pharmacy Finder do not have vaccine stock. Pharmacies should ensure that the website accurately represents NHS seasonal flu vaccination availability to prevent wasted journeys by the public. The flu programme runs until 31 March 2025 and vaccine remains available to order. It can be obtained at a reduced minimum order size with 2/3 days delivery direct from the manufacturer or from medicines wholesalers. Pharmacies should check their published status at Flu Vaccination Pharmacy Finder and make changes if necessary. Changes take effect immediately and can be made using the Profile Manager. |
The Pharmacy Pressures Survey will provide important evidence of the challenges facing the sector and the results will be used to raise awareness in national media and Parliament to demonstrate the impact to the ongoing crisis to the Government and the NHS. It consists of two surveys, with many questions kept similar to last year’s. The surveys take around 10-15 minutes to complete and close on 28th February 2025. See here for more information. |

We are delighted to share that Callum Anderson, MP for Buckingham and Bletchley, had a productive visit to Jardines Pharmacy in Meadow Walk, Buckingham. During his visit, he met with Krishnan Modi, the owner of the pharmacy, and Conor Steele, Head of Branch Services. David Dean, Chief Officer of Community Pharmacy Thames Valley, also joined the meeting. The discussions were insightful and focused on the critical role that community pharmacies play in delivering healthcare services. The visit provided an excellent opportunity to discuss future collaborations and the challenges faced by local pharmacies. We are pleased with the outcome of the visit and look forward to further strengthening our community pharmacy services. |

The Emergency Hormonal Contraception (EHC) Service Contract, starting in April 2025, has been shared with pharmacies via PharmOutcomes. To enhance the availability of this important service across the Reading Borough and West Berkshire Council areas, we need your support. The LPC has secured a 50% increase in remuneration for the EHC Service across East Berkshire, including pharmacies in Bracknell, Slough, and RBWM. Please read and accept the message on PharmOutcomes to join this initiative. For detailed service specifications and Patient Group Directions (PGDs), please see here. |
Read the latest article in the Pharmacy First myth busting series dispersing misconception about the service e.g. If I receive a message that my Pharmacy First IT system cannot send an automated message to the patient’s GP practice following the patient’s Pharmacy First consultation, no further action is required. Wrong! It is a service requirement that a notification of the provision of the service is sent to the patient’s general practice on the day of provision or on the following working day. If the notification cannot be sent via the Pharmacy First IT system, the notification should be sent via NHSmail or hard copy. See here for series 9 and series 10.
